Why Older Phones May Have a Reduced Experience
If your phone is older or has a lower-powered graphics processor, the experience may automatically switch to a simplified mode. This is not a bug - it's designed to give you the best possible experience on your hardware.
Key Points
- Hand tracking is disabled - the hand detection system is skipped entirely, which also means less data needs to be downloaded
- You get an animation browser instead - a scrollable list of pre-set animations appears on screen. You can swipe through and pick different animations to watch
- The AR character is still there - you still see the character placed in your real environment via the camera
Helpful Notes
- Performance is smoother - by skipping the most demanding feature (real-time hand detection), the experience runs reliably on your hardware
- iPhone: Models running iOS versions older than iOS 16 (generally iPhone 7 and earlier)
- Android: Phones with specific older GPU models (including certain Mali, Adreno, and PowerVR processors). The check happens automatically - there's no list to look up.
- iPhone 8 or newer with iOS 16+
- Android with a capable GPU (most mid-range and flagship phones handle it well)
